Creative English Reflection
A personal reflection on growth, expression, and confidence.
Communication was an aspect of life that I was struggling to get a grasp on. However, over the course of this subject, I started to understand how people actually communicate and even started stepping into speaking situations myself, especially speeches.
This is a website that goes over what I learned, organized by quarter, tracing each phase of my journey in gaining confidence.
Principles, models, forms, and the verbal and nonverbal dimensions of how we connect.
Listening sensitively, attentively and critically, taking notes, and preparing to speak.
Learning about how you deliver a speech teaches you that how you say it matters as much as what you say.
Communication in formal, real-world contexts — presentations, discussions, and presenting what I learned.
I started this course thinking communication was simply about speaking clearly. I didn't realize how listening, empathy, body language, and context all contribute to communicating properly.
Quarter by quarter, I grew in ways I didn't expect. I became more aware of how I listen, more thoughtful about how I prepare, and more willing to be vulnerable in front of others. The speeches were uncomfortable at first, but they taught me that showing up and saying something real takes courage and confidence.
By the end, I understood communication is not just as a skill to be practiced, and despite knowing that I still have a long way to go, I am optimistic that I will carry these lessons as I grow
